Les Fermes du Château - Who are your guests?

We were originally  from Lyon... We spent our time between the Rhône and the Haute-Loire. When the weekends arrived, it was more and more difficult for us to leave the farm. This haven of peace, this quiet house, we and the children were so happy there.

Life moves on and we took the plunge: we decided to move to the Haute-Loire. In the heart of the Auvergne volcanoes, we had finally found the place where we were going to live in the middle of nature.

We renovated the old farmhouse and transformed it into a dwelling house in 2001, according to our plans and aspirations, and then into a bed and breakfast.

Then we transformed the farmer's house into a gîte (La Cantou). Finally in 2015, neighbours who had inherited the house from the painter Vera Braun, offered it to us and since then, every year we have been making improvements to offer you the best stay possible.

Our guest house: a place steeped in history

Our house is at the gates of the castle of Maubourg. It is one of the parts of a large farmhouse belonging to the Latour Maubourg family - a place steeped in history.
Located on the outskirts of the 33-hectare estate of the neighbouring Château, halfway between Saint-Étienne and Le Puy, in the commune of Saint-Maurice-de-Lignon, we used to welcome holidaymakers, people on business trips, travellers... with passion and above all with the pleasure of helping them discover this magnificent region that is the territory of Les Sucs (local term for these mountains of volcanic secretion) and the Velay region.

Easy access from the RN 88 - Route du Puy en Velay.

Guest rooms - welcome home!

We wanted to preserve the authentic character of this former farm building, favour natural and local materials and offer an open and spacious space. With the stone, the wood, the light coming in through the large bay window and the high ceilings, we wanted to make our large living room unique and out of the ordinary. We have welcomed you with joy in our guest rooms for 12 years, and since 2015 in the small adjoining gîte.
Our rooms and then the guest houses have all the comfort you need for a restful stay: comfortable bedding, private bathroom and panoramic view of the garden.
We look forward to welcoming you very soon at the Fermes du Château.
